Smiting Focus Items - Guild Wars Forums

Hello,

Long time reader, first time poster.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find anything with the search function.

I've been trying to get a high level smiting focus item (as in the things that go in your off-hand and increase energy and such). I've looked at all the collectors in the Crystal Desert and Southern Shiverpeaks (including those listed in the collectors thread) and they only seem to offer smiting weapons (staves and wands) but no smiting focus items. I've also had no luck buying one from other players, though this may be a coincidence.

Anyway, are they in the game or did ArenaNet leave them out?!

I don't recall any smiting offhands. I'd say stick with a nice staff. I use a +10 energy 11-22 dmg +15 health smiting staff. I have a +10 energy 10-20dmg +10 health enchantments last 11% longer as well. These sort of items are easy to find in snake dance (i think) just out of Camp Rankor in the southern shiverpeaks by killing griffons.

About 1/3 of the items they drop are either smiting, healing, divine, or protective items. I've got about 5 gold or purples of these in the last 2 days (about 1.5 hours)

Okay thanks. I don't use the monk weapons so I guess I'll have to stick with my healing based off-hand items.

I used to use the griffons for quick monk weapons too but they nerfed it in the update yesterday. They are in tougher groups with arcanists and azures plus they don't drop anywhere near as much good stuff. In fact, sometimes they don't drop anything at all even though I'm killing them solo.

Oh well. Since ANet are screwing most of the accessible ways to make money I hope they follow through by making items and runes more easily acquired throughout the course of normal play...
